POP Club for Kids

What is POP Club?

POP (Power of Produce) Club is a fun and engaging program that connects young kids to their local food system.

Your children will learn about produce (fruits, vegetables, herbs and food-producing plants) through weekly activities/demonstrations and by shopping at the farmers market.

How does it work?

  1. Kids, aged 4-12, can sign up for POP Club. It is simple and free!

  2. Each week, children can participate in a themed activity AND receive $3 in “POP Bucks” that they can spend at the market on any fresh fruits or vegetables.

  3. Kids can choose to spend their POP Bucks or save them up for another shopping day. Note that all POP Bucks expire at the end of the season (October 18, 2025).

  4. Kids will have a POP Club Passport to track their participation in the program and will earn extra POP Bucks throughout the season for their accomplishments.

How do I Register for POP Club?

There are two ways to sign up:

  1. Filling out the POP Club Registration Form online will allow us to have your child’s Passport ready. All you will have to do is sign a parent authorization the first time you and your children visit the POP Club tent.

  2. Alternatively, you can register at the POP Club Tent with your children.

Why should my family participate?

  • Your child will learn to make nutritious food choices and better understand where their food comes from.

  • Your family will be supporting our local farmers.

  • POP Club instills confidence in kids as they talk with vendors and purchase their own fruits and vegetables.

We can’t wait to see your little ones learning, laughing, and tasting their way through the market each week!

Bringing POP Club to Andover

The first POP Club was introduced at the Oregon City Farmers Market in 2011. Since then, key elements of the program have been shared and adopted nationwide through the Farmers Market Coalition and through other Massachusetts farmers markets. Additionally, AFM received a 2024-2025 Farmers Market Sustainability Grant through MDAR that allowed us to bring the POP Club for Kids to AFM.
